Editorial Guidelines

Trust is our only currency. If you cannot trust our recommendations, KnowWhatYouAreBuying has no reason to exist. That is why we operate under a strict, non-negotiable editorial code.

We do not let algorithms write our content, we do not let manufacturers dictate our verdicts, and we never accept payment in exchange for a positive review. Here are the exact guidelines that govern every word published on this site.

1Goal: Your Trust

Zero “Pay-to-Play”

We categorically refuse sponsored reviews. Brands cannot buy a spot on our “Top Picks” lists, nor can they pay us to remove a negative critique. Our rankings are earned through data, never bought.

Blind Affiliate Links

While we use affiliate links to fund our research, our evaluation engine is blind to commission rates. A product that pays us 0% will always rank higher than a product that pays 10% if the data proves it is better.

Human-Driven Research

We do not use AI to generate reviews or scrape specs without verification. Every article is meticulously researched, compiled, and fact-checked by a real person obsessed with accuracy.

The Separation of Content and Commerce

At KWYAB, there is an impenetrable wall between our editorial audits and our revenue generation. The decision of which product wins a “Best Overall” badge is made entirely based on our proprietary scoring matrices.

Only after a guide is fully written, scored, and finalized do we generate the affiliate links. If a top-rated product is not available on Amazon or any affiliate network, we still link to it. Recommending the right product is our priority; monetization comes second.

Accuracy & Corrections Policy

We are obsessed with data, but we are human. The tech landscape changes daily with firmware updates, price drops, and newly discovered defects. Here is how we handle accuracy.

1. Source Verification

We do not publish rumors. Specifications and performance claims are sourced strictly from official technical documentation, service manuals, or our own physical teardowns.

2. Fact-Checking Standard

Before publication, every dimension, historic price point, and critical metric is double-checked against multiple independent databases to ensure zero discrepancies.

3. Living Documents

Our guides are not published and forgotten. We monitor our top picks continuously. If a manufacturer pushes a software update that ruins a device, we revoke the recommendation immediately.

4. Conflict of Interest

Our research team is required to disclose any past affiliations with tech manufacturers. No one is permitted to review a product if they hold financial interest in the parent company.

5. Transparent Corrections

If we publish an error regarding a core spec, we will correct it instantly. Major corrections that alter the final verdict will be clearly noted and dated at the top of the article.

6. User-Reported Errors

We actively listen to our community. If a reader spots a technical inaccuracy or a discontinued product, we have a strict 24-hour Service Level Agreement to investigate and update the text.

How We Handle Press Samples

1. The Retail Priority

Whenever possible, we buy the products we analyze anonymously at retail price. This guarantees we don’t receive “golden samples” (units hand-picked by the manufacturer to perform perfectly).

2. Unconditional Acceptance

If we accept a press unit to provide coverage on launch day, it is strictly under the condition that the brand has zero input on our review. They do not get to see the article before publication.

3. Zero Embargo Compromises

We respect launch embargos, but we do not sign NDAs that prevent us from discussing specific flaws, thermal limits, or missing features. If a product is bad, we will say so on day one.

Found an error in our data? We pride ourselves on accuracy. If you notice a discontinued product, an incorrect specification, or a broken link, please let us know immediately so we can fix it.
